I’m currently saving for a truck to eventually lease onto a company out there in the fields (I know it’s dead rn but later on) and was curious as to what you guys run out there. I may be starting out sandbox or may jump right into pneumatic, hell maybe even crude. Anyways, looking for something I can pay maybe 25k+ for without blower and aside from maintenance funds. Any good websites or dealerships you recommend? Thanks

Idk jack about TX or anywhere else but up here in ND a lot of companies I’ve seen run T800 Kenworths. I’ve driven a few and personally like them. W900s, Pete 379/389, older Western Stars and sometimes Freightliner Classics. A lot of the aero Freightliners I’ve seen like Columbia’s and Centuries have the bottom plastic/fairings removed for ground clearance and so they’re not ripped off on Lease roads.

Haven’t seen very many if any automatics. 99.9% all manuals, 13 and 18 speeds.

Not being sarcastic but if you Google “Oilfield Spec trucks” or search here some pretty good stuff pops up. Maybe someone with more specific information will chime in with stuff such as gear ratio, etc. That’s also going to be dependent on where and what you’re hauling. Sandboxes are easy peasy to run. No clue on Pneumatic or crude.

If I was buying a truck for the patch it would most likely be a late 90’s or early 2000’s (pre emission) truck at least a 13 speed and 24.5 tire for some extra ground clearance. Again, I’m not a guru so take that with a grain of salt.

    Hopefully more experience chimes in.

I hauled crude for 1 year in Dakotas.. If you gonna do Crude you need a truck with a PTO, Wet kit... I'd try Truckpaper just put those specs in...

Something similar to this is probably what I would go for. Obviously that’s If it was mechanically sound and set up for what i was doing. But I mean in reference to relatively cheap, older, haven’t lost anything when a lease road beats it to death, possibly allowing for hauling different types of freight etc.

sucked... -30 degree weather everyday... the stupid camper they gave me wouldn't keep heat so at the time me and my ex wife had to walk around with thick jackets on all the time. Roads were horrible, half the guys I worked with were idiots... Some nights when I rolled up on a well site I would see shadows and stuff, then it would start snowing and by the time I got the oil loaded I had to put chains on to get out... yea pretty rough man... I made it though for 1 year!!!

I see a lot of these trucks go for that price and they look clean but it scares me cus they’re such expensive trucks brand new and to go that low makes me wonder
