Changing your own flats is often the quickest way to get back on the road. In logging you can be miles away from a tire shop and road calls from a tire dealer cost a ton. Like I said in my other post a lot of the guys carry air guns and that makes the job a lot easier. You get used to it. You don't like it but you get used to it.
If you get with the right outfit it pays pretty well. Some of the smaller operators pay by the ton or by the load but the ones really worth working for pay by the hour.
60 and 70 hour weeks are the norm so you'll usually hit time-and-a-half by Wednesday. That makes Thursday and Friday very profitable.
Working by the ton is alright but working for scale or percentage of scale is dicey. You want to find out if you're working for gross or net scale.
What kinda Hauling is this ?
