My TV is my laptop. I rip DVDs to and put them on an external hard drive so I don't have to lug them around. I have about 200 movies on it. When I find a wi-fi connection I watch Hulu.
After the switch over to digital, it didn't take long before I just gave up on TV. There is no degradation of the signal, it's either there are there is nothing. I'd rather be back in the old days when I could watch a snowy picture, because at least it had no interruptions every time another truck drove by. At least then I could pick up a signal 15 miles out of town. -
Well, I'm planning on using the TV for Xbox, unless you can tell me how to plug in my Xbox to my laptop?
If I REALLY get into trucking as a career, I might consider getting the VuQue (sp)? It's a mobile satellite dish from King Controls; allows you to get DishNetwork or DirecTV. But that's years and years from now... Heck, by then, satellite might not be around any more. LOL -
That actually can be done. You'd need something like this:

That one is $124.
I had one of these back in the day, it has an analog tuner that will no longer pick anything up over the air, and it's not HD, but you can use it to plug an Xbox up to the laptop, but it's going to look like an old analog tv, well slightly better.
this one is $24.

I bought this thing because I had a huge collection of VHS tapes that I wanted to digitize, put them on a DVD, my hard drive, where ever. I haven't looked in a while, since the job is done, but when I upgraded to Vista a few years ago there were no drivers for it. Only XP. It worked great, you plug a VCR up to it, launch the software for it, hit the record button on the remote that came with it, and watched your video tape. It saved the video to the hard drive in . mpg form. I played around with it, hooking up a PLaystation 2 I had at the time. the picture wasn't that bad. It wasn't digital or HD, but it was a lot clearer than a standard CRT screen. -
Well, considering the fact that my old cellphone just died and I had to spend $199 on a new iPhone (which I'm using right now to respond) AND the wife decided that she wanted one too, I'm more than broke. Still waiting for orientation with Swift and not making any money. TVs, XBoxs and laptops will just have to wait.
In the mean time: C'mon guys and gal! The thing truck drivers like to do best is complain and gloat and I'm giving you a perfect opportunity to do at least one of those! Tell us 'bout your kick-arse 19" LCD TV and the 100 Watt surround sound systems you've got. -
Does anyone know where a guy can still get an regular 13 inch tv/dvd combo? I really dont want one of the flatscreen ones that you attach to a wall or has a stand. Doesnt seem like it can handle too much bouncing. I dont know why technology just cant let some things be

I still see those tv/dvd 13" tvs in a few truck stops hear and there. Personally I have a 24" 1080p in my company truck.
It is the best buy cheap brand(Dynex). I paid 200 for it on sale. It was still cheaper then most tvs for sale in the truck stops. I have my netbook hooked up to it so now i can watch movies off my netbook on it or play WoW. I power it all though a 400watt cobra inverter plugged into the 12volt socket. Look for my post in the TV antenna thread for pictures.

Well, if you must have a 13 CRT tv, but you really don't. The bouncing around so far hasn't seemed to bother any flat screen tv I've seen in anyone's truck I know. Still as broke as before so I haven't bought my own, but when I get around to it, I will be buying flatscreen and mounting it at the end if my bunk. The tv slot in my Volvo is a little high for my taste.

Don't really keep a TV, but I keep a laptop for DVDs and internet. Youtube and Hulu is always good! Plus, I don't have to worry about it getting stolen or breaking since it's very portable (easy to hide that is), and doesn't use as much electricity as a TV.

Well I have the vuecube 1000 (sit box on ground version), directv receiver and a 26" flatscreen. Not bragging just stating the facts sir. Oh, I also have a 17" bluray laptop for HD movie enjoyment.
