I've hauled them once, these are 20 foot chains. The J-plates helped, without them it would have been tough using 20ft chains... Just remember the regulations state 4 chains per stack. I probably had to re-bind them 4 or 5 times within the first 200 miles or so, moving the binder hook up a couple chain links every time as the load settled... Wish I had more of the strap chains you see in the picture, those are way easier than using binders, but I only carry a couple of them...
If your taking them to Mansfield, OH that place is very busy but they unload quick.

I didn't have enough chain the first and only time I hauled them so had to by three more and luckily found 30 footers where I was at, was having so many issues with the load resettling that after like 5 miles of transport I pulled on to an entrance ramp and said f it and through a strap over each stack and tightened the crap out of the strap, got enough compression on each stack I was able to redo all my chains and get them better and that was the last time I had to adjust them. Took the strap off after I got my chains tight and finished the 300 mile haul without a problem

Out here in So. Commiefornia, I’ve seen them secured with cable and use the trailer winches with the stub. I don’t know the diameter/size.
