unless they time stamp the paperwork then I would show on duty for 15-30 when it says I checked in and 15 or so when I am loaded

You're suppose to be on line 4 while waiting to get loaded if you're in the drivers seat. But as long as you're not physically working i'd log 15 minutes on line 4 and the rest off duty.15 minutes is the time it takes you to check in.I have waited hrs to get loaded and unloaded and only logged 15 min and officers have never questioned it.

i'm on duty till i hit the dock(usually takes 15-20 minutes depending how fast i get thru the shipppers office to get a door)then sleeper till they give me papers. then i go back on duty to do the loaded/mt call(about 10-15 minute).if they have me go to a breakroom,i'm offduty

while waiting to get loaded or unloaded I think the law is you must log ON duty, but I would as others suggest.

Dot requires a minimum of 30 minutes to load and unload. From there log it as sleeper berth. It will save on your 70 hour clock at the end of the week. It doesn't stop your drive clock at all, but it helps you on your 70 for sure.

This is exactly how my trainer and I have been running for the past 3 weeks

Can you please link me to that requirement never heard of a 30 minute load requirement. I always go off duty soon as I turn the truck off. Never had a LEO question my logs.

DOT (FMCSA) does not mandate any set amount of time for loading/unloading, or anything else considered as on-duty time. Time is to be logged based on whether a driver is considered on-duty or off-duty. If the driver is released from responsibility and is free to rest while the trailer is being loaded/unloaded, then it may be logged as off-duty and/or sleeper berth time. Sitting in the driver's seat of a parked CMV while meeting the definition of off-duty can also be logged as off-duty.

Log it as you do it. It is not too hard to know whether you are working or not.
