Kind of an off topic type of question.

Interested in doing some more hauling with our trucks and looking as to what industries to haul for. Looking for regional day trips.

Currently we just haul for our own farm mostly.

But just kind of an observation, it seems to me people hauling milk and fuel have the newest, nicest, cleanest trucks. We haul our own milk and know the money these guys bring in, but also know what they do through in the winter to earn it. I also learned why their trucks are so clean, its like a contest at the milk plant of who can keep their trucks cleanest and brushes and soap as well as hoses are often provided to clean the trucks.

Just an observation but it seems like milk and fuel might possibly pay out good with a steady work load versus something that is slightly more unpredictable such as heavy haul or dump trailer work.

New to all of this, just an observation from the road. Feel free to move to Off topic if neccessary thank you.

From what I have learned over the years is that the best paying freight is usually the stuff 95% of the other guys don't want to do. A few friends and myself have been able to capitalize on this type of deal and made a great deal of money by just naming our usually over priced rate. The person paying the frieght may squirm, but they also know the work must get done and no one else was interested in doing it. Basically...find your niche market, become the best you can, have the highest reputation, stick to your guns, and exploit the niche for all its worth.

Contact Fair Oaks Farms in Fair Oaks, IN (www.fofarms.com) they have prob the largest dairy in the Midwest, and hauling milk, you prob already know of them. They might be interested in hiring you guys to haul some loads for them up to WI.

Just a thought, and since you have your own trailers/insurance/ect it might be quite profitable for you.

This is exactly right. Whatever takes a little more effort or a little more thinking pays more because the big companies don't want to or can't do it. And the goobers that haul buck a mile freight are probably too lazy to put in the effort.

    SHC Thanks this.

Only customer I will not haul for... not even a roll of toilet paper. Got my own reasons for that choice. Long story. And money is not it. So, no one will have to compete with me for that customer! Enjoy!

Looking for some info on how much is the going rate for truck load (hopper bottoms) for corn, meal, etc etc (ON AVERAGE) ?? Not what is paid to a driver (as per mile) but what the O/O gets per average load??
I would appreciate a reply ASAP!
    Thank you
