Yeah I have a 10 acre homestead that my wife and the kids love. I will just keep hope alive and hope they hire locally. I applied for dock position and I wouldn’t mind doing that until I can get a spot as feeder or parcel driver.

Their local position requires one year where I’m located.

Full time Feeder position requires two years experience I believe. I know at my hub it does.

Yeah I’ve heard the same thing as well.
I don’t mind waiting to get more experience. I applied for southeastern freightlines which is daytime P&D. I’ve also looked at R&L carriers as well but they said I’d be doing night line haul. I think I’d rather do say p&D even though it will be more of a hassle probably

If you can handle it when you get on the dock I’d stick it out til Van driver comes open. My buddy as a package driver makes 90k-100k easy. He avoids overtime also. They have all the ot if wanted. If he worked OT he could make 100k+ Van has the best schedule but physical. M-F no weekends or holidays. Then down the road jump into feeder if you want.

It’s the home delivery no CDL required. The guys who deliver your package. They make Bank! He told me more people rather be on that then feeder cause of the schedule. But this was awhile ago things have changed. Remember feeder is nights and 6-7 days a week. The chance of a day shift is for most 10-15 years or even 20 years out at feeder. Why i didn’t jump. If I went to UPS here I won’t see a day shift schedule at my age. My current company it’ll take 2-5 years for a day shift. Your at feeder for one thing only and that’s $$$$$$ unless your a lucky few that can snag a decent schedule. But that’s a lucky few.

Ok yeah gotta pay my dues I guess. Heard it’s also hard to get into being a package car driver too. People wait years to get on from what I hear.

My buddy waited 2-3 years. Average in his area was 4 years. This was 20 years ago. Union jobs love the work your way up and do your time way.
