What makes you feel like a bad ### in trucking?

So my first job is heavy haul, been doing it a while now.

Today was in a long nosed 4 axle Pete, lights out the ying yang, with a 5 axle 9 wide lowboy with a 350 long reach excavator. I was wide, tall, heavy and it was just a site to behold.

I made a turn today that stopped traffic and grown men came out of the shop they worked at randomly to just watch it and started doing the horn pump with their arms. Which of course, I let it blast.

Just curious is this like a heavy haul specific thing or does all forms of driving get these moments to?

Nope. Couple days ago I pulled away from a stop light and didn't stall the engine, then hit 3rd without grindin gears.

I think everybody was like "Hell yeah driver"

But it was probably just my trainer

Imma pop a chubby when I actually hook up to a trailer

 

The little kid doing the arm pump, still does it for me sometimes.
Mostly i feel old and tired and sad about what trucking has become....

 

Backing under a trailer and hearing the lock jaw click into position is quite satisfying to me. No banging or slamming. Just the isolated clicking sound.

 

If I ever get the chance, I'll roll up on it like Conway Twitty does the ladies. Slow and easy

Making it to the restroom on time after drinking two 16 ounce coffees and driving 8 hours straight
