Being a soldier doesnt mean you get special treatment in the everyday dool drums of life.does it ? You served, you did "your time" in the service..now you move on to the civilian life like all the rest of us......only a very few ranks, generals or high ranking offficers get to enjoy the "malipulation" of "I served" to gain personal wealth..and those people are in public service..you know ?? As for Marten they say they care/ hire veterns, but they dont ,your just meat in the seat...

Many of us have ended up working for bad companies and at the end of the experience feel that we have not been treated honourably. It's important that you put this behind you and move on. You seem to have a very supportive partner and this is worth a lot
I found the account you gave a bit hard to follow and it wasn't helped by your using caps which is the equivalent of shouting at people. It might be an idea to type up a well punctuated carefully thought out account of what happened because this may help when you're approaching your next prospective employer. Be careful that you don't leave out bits of the story (even if they're unpleasant ) that they can easily check on to verfy your level of truthfulness.

This is the end of the trucking industry I work in - interviewing and hiring people and guys coming in only get one
chance to get a job. Don't blow it with a disjointed verbal ramble.

Having served your country may only heighten your sense of injustice when you're treated badly in civilian life
and we all need to stop and cut a bit of slack for those making the transition.

I hope things work out better in future

Lonesome, RickG and Bilbirk Thank this.

Why don't you ask if someone from this forum can give you a ride from your area to that yard?

So sorry about all thebad luck you and your wife had.Marten is a low cold heartless company like almost every company in the trucking industry. It's sad that the drivers are on there own in things like this.Only time the law will defend the drivers is if it has to do with companies firing you for not running illegal and that sort of thing and even then they get away with alot but not the driver.Really hope it gets better for you both and soon.

Thank you for your service, but the Only thing being a Vet will get you is a Cup of Coffee at the going price. No special treatment no nothing. If you have service connected medical issues it will get your health care. Sooner you realize that you will be better off. I learned the hard way after costing me 8 jobs, and a wife.

This isn't true . A few carriers will recognize a driver's service . There is much I didn't like about Quality Carriers but they would accept a driver's military driving experience under certain conditions and accept it in lieu of the OTR experience .
It is true the Veteran Programs of the starter companies are a farce and still require employment obligation .

Quite the story , however 2 questions

    1) Instead of sleeping on the street did you contact the local VA office for assistance.

    2) When was the DAYTONA 500 run in INDIANAPOLIS .

Haven't you heard of the latest trend in employment....telecommuting?? Yes, now you too can race in the Daytona 500 without ever getting out of your pajamas. Kinda like some truckers nowadays.....:biggrin_2554:
