Only need passport if leaving Country. ( Actually need it more to get back in) So Canada/ Mexico etc. If you work for Carrier that runs Canada will be good to have usually just to cut across from N mi or Wi. to say Buffalo area.Most important cards you will need is Pilot Petro Loves etc. Use them to get shower and points for free coffee. All the important Truckdrivers have lots of these cards.You can get an impressive book to keep them all safe and secure.Or just an extra big wallet. You’ll need one anyway to hold all that money you’ll be making , be sure it has a chain on it so it doesn’t get lost or stolen

 

You can get Passport at Certain Post Offices , Cards at Prospective Truckstops , wallet at Flea Market

 

TWIC was running around $125. Costs more $'s to get into ports if you don't have it, with it they charge less. Husband has had a hard time on the fingerprint part everytime and he's not a criminal, I think they said he may have been dehydrated when the prints were taken.

 

And I needed mine for oil refineries. Just renewed my yesterday. Interestingly, they provide a discount ($25) if you have a CDL, but then your TWIC is only good for 3 years. I paid the extra $25 and got the 5 year card.

 

I believe too that if you have domestic abuse charges, or other charges, they will not issue one.
