i'm still trying to figure out why he said the OP had to be a female. That was a little uncalled for. But i guess to each their own.

I'm not sure what is so difficult about answering a question for some of you guys. If you want to something about someone, ask them.... I'm an honest hard working dad of 5. Curreently i work for a non profit providing services for mentally and physically disabled individuals. I was a firefighter for 17 years and had to give it up for family reasonns. I'm just trying to learn a business and try to support my family. I'm not a broker, never been to a broker school....I actually had another post titled,"How do brokers make there money?" I'm just trying to learn.

dmcarroll dont worry about.. i kinda understand this post now.. and i'm sorry about some of the other not so friendly things that have been said, it's just that brokers aren't too "loved" by truckers.. they're a middle man in the industry (some needed, most not so) and they take more than their fair share of the profit, which in turns eats into the driver/carrier's profit margin.. but about your post, your question is really vague, so all of the response will be just as vague if not worse.. there's alot of information that is needed in order for someone to quote you a shipping rate.. if someone knew (just make up something) what you wanted to be shipping and the quantity then you would be better responses, cause someone on this board will have hauled it. like lumber, if you said you had six stacks of 3/4in ply wood weighing 43k needing to be moved from Huston, tx to Pensacola, fl someone would be able to give you an ideal. they have weight, dimensions, and distance traveled.

You know that's all well and fine.

However ....... what you're asking is for a professional business man (person - sorry forgot my PC there) to give you a detailed answer, in effect discussing what, to that person, could be proprietary information.

    So......

What business are you in? After all ... you know what business these folks are in. Fair is fair ya know. I don't think that any body really cares at this point what the name of your business is just, what type of business you are starting up.

You keep saying that you are not a broker and that you don't want to be a broker. Yet - your other thread was How Do Brokers Make Money? Now this thread What Must I Pay an O/O....."?

Quite frankly I don't think that any body really cares if you're a broker or not. The cagey "I've got a secret stuff" is getting kind of annoying though.

You really are asking some questions that ought to have obvious answers. Like if anybody runs I-40? Please! C'mon man a major east west corridor and you're wondering if any owner ops run I-40?

I'll make it simple for you.......

General freight in a dry van - no hazmat - anywhere in the lower 48 - no touch - Owner Op with his (or her) own authority and insurance - their own trailer .........

......... $2.25 per mile, minimum, actual miles.

my exact answer to your exact question would be $500 per mile under 1000 mi and $350 per mile over 1000 mi length of haul. $5 mi for deadheaed. and il throw in a stipulation about the legality of the freight.

that should sufficiently cover me ffor annd needed equipment permits freight to anywhere from anywhere

Hey Jim. I work for a non profit organization providing services to adults with mental and physical disabilities. As for the I-40 statement, Iit was meant to come off as who runs the I-40 near AZ. I know its a major route. Perhaps I should have worded it a little different. Sorry for the vagueness.
