Have you considered changing to Tri-State or Panther? Of course freight is much slower this year than last year, but I think that is basically true with most companies today. Bad economy.

Boy man... Has the dust setteled yet?:biggrin_2556: As I read the comments back and forth I couldn't help but notice the age of the two young men Brickman and Wreckless, (a name speaks volumns), and also the experince listed as well. Wreckless if you are an O/O look at your bottom line. I hope you financial records are not "in a box". Even if you are a HD you have to weigh the cost of being out there verses the cost of working in a cage. # 15 yr ago a new co. came to town, hubby thought he would hang up his spurs and give the cage a try. He scored high on the test and the owner wanted him but flat out told him that there was no way a town job could begin to compare to the salary he was used to. I ran the figures on paper and if the kids and I promised not to eat again we would barely scrape by......we still truck. We have been leased, we have had our own authority, never really been a HD except helping out a neighbor a couple of times. Read your lease before you sign, look at things from all angles. There are bad situations in all co's but there are co's that are better than others. And trucking like other areas it is usually feast or famine. We all can remember when it was better, but I can remember when it was worse as well. Weigh the financial good against the bad and try to figure out why you are this upset. If these issues are legit then it gives someone else a chance to check it out before they get over their head with issues. But I kinda think like Brickman, why ya still there?

I'd love to have my own truck and pull loads for Landstar. That's my goal, if I ever make enough to buy a truck!!!

I'm hoping you are just doing local or regional governed at the speed! How many close calls have you had with someone coming around a corner from behind not expecting someone going that slow?

If you can't see around a turn or a corner shouldn't you be going a little slower?

    Risyl32,

What a wonderful world it would be if everyone did as they were supposed to or as expected.

I have been heavy pulling a hill in areas where the speed limit is 65 or 70 mph and going 10 to 15 mph slower than the rest of the flow. I can't count how many times a 4-wheeler has come from behind around a corner going 5 to 10 mph OVER the posted limit and about nailed me AND the guy in the next lane as they swerve to get around me.

WHO ARE YOU that you don't know this?? Are you a new driver? Or a citizen 4-wheeler??

The title was "governed at 55" and here is your quote ontop. Not trying to start an issue with you, it's just that I can't think of any corner that I have been approaching that I couldn't see around and still be going over 55. Also, I started with a chauffers(spelling might not be right)before the days of CDL and was grandfathered in, but that does, in no way, mean that I know it all.

I guess that I must admit that I was in error since I was presuming that you were speaking of a big truck and not of a 4-wheeler. I stand corrected.

Well said Brickman!!! I think wreckless needs to go someplace where he gets told where to go and not have to think about all those problems.Yes some days are not good but is my decision that got me to where ever I am and what will take me to my next point.Better yet why not start Wreckless Transportation and he could fix all those problems and we will work for him and hual only high paying freight going only where we want to go,and not worry about all that pesky safety stuff.

Ditto for each of Brickman's responses!

I've talked to several drivers who left Landstar and then came back.

I've also talked to a couple who left to run under their own authority. I'd hate to be one of those guys right now, worrying about my receivables and whether a company I had hauled a load for is going under before I get paid.

There are a lot of details like receivables that Landstar takes care of that a person who doesn't have their eyes wide open COULD take for granted.....

It's all what you make it:biggrin_25511:
