Quoted for posterity and laughter. Will consult with my mechanic before approaching ice covered bridge in texas.

A professional driver would not drive on ice. That accident involves an iced over bridge. That is something that no one can prepare for , but can can take appropriate actions to minimize the risk of an accident.

Again, consult your mechanic or dealer for more information about your particular truck. The truck I drive allows for highway speeds with the IAD and it is likely the driver in the video has the same technology.

Where the hell do you guys learn this crap. The axle differential interlock can be used while you are moving. It is suggested that you do not engage it while your wheels are spinning, but you can use them while in motion. There is a maximum speed that the manufacturer places on it's use.Hammer166 Thanks this.

The road appears dry. The wheels are not spinning. Why would you lock the differential in?

A professional driver will drive on ice at some point in his/her career. Whether it is an iced over bridge or you just entered a section of highway without any good exits for getting off the road and conditions get icy and you have to continue for a period of time before finding a safe place to park it, you will at some point in your career drive on ice.
I also disagree with the idea that driving on ice is something "no one can prepare for". If you don't prepare for it then your chances of an accident increase. The purpose of this thread is to generate discussion to perhaps help newer drivers prepare for it.
Ice happens. -
Not the only person seen that lol. This thread is filled with laughter.

Good question. I think from my own experience a couple weeks ago I'd opt for engaging it before I think I'd need it when approaching that bridge. Temperatures were dropping to below freezing, yet spray was still coming off tires. The temperature should have been topmost in my mind when approaching that bridge.
