I've said just about the same thing all these years. When you think you got it figured out and you know it all, they may bury you the next day.

Nope. Even without the interaxle lock engaged, if the drives have more traction they can push the truck straight in spite of steering angle. Since the interaxle lock should, by definition, give the drives more traction, having it locked will cause, or increase the likelyhood of this happening.

My own truck has done it many times. Usually just easing off the throttle a bit allows it to turn. Some time one has to step on the clutch and/or disengage the interaxle lock to negotiate the turn.

Keep in mind this mostly happens when turning to maneuver, but could even happen in more gradual turns such as curves in the road. The interaxle is just one tool, not a fix-all for slick conditions.

If your diff lock is pushing you straight, try some grease on your 5th wheel. The only thing a diff lock does is lock the front right to the left rear and the right rear to the front left. This won't cause the front to plow straight. Slick conditions and a vehicle under power will cause lose of steering, but having the diff lock engaged will have no effect.

I'll agree on the greased 5th wheel, but I need to correct a common misconception. Locking out the power divider only means that both pinions will be turning at the same speed. Which wheels on each axle spin depends on the traction of those wheels. It's quite common to see both wheels on one side spinning together.

Agree with the rest of your post, but not these fatalist statements. Though your sphere of influence may be drastically less than you'd like, you are almost never "out of control."

    Swifty made a few mistakes:
1° as others have pointed out,the truck in the median was the biggest clue he could have.
2°he braked. No arguments needed, the video shows it quite clearly. That's just plain stupid.

    No point in overanalysing this.

I agree with Grouch, you never can really learn ice because ice is never the same.
All you can learn is to drive using your knowledge and steering abilities.

About using the powerdivider...............i know i won't change anyones mind either way but i will not use it at highway speeds.
To those who think it would have helped in this situation,i have a question:what makes you think the grip on the leftside was the same as on the righthandside?

    Good traction control is brilliant.
They should install it on every truck.(with a button to disengage it when needed)
