Rest area closest to that truck stop is north on I-5, and depending on time of day it's dicey at best. Seattle area is difficult. MAYBE if you go to the Kent/Auburn area you MIGHT find a street parking situation in an industrial zone, but good luck.

Really, why bother? Getting a $150 parking ticket on an on-ramp would be better than taking a big chance with bad odds on doing $2-3k+ damage to another truck. And nobody is going to care that you jackknifed it in there. You're not getting a medal or special mud flaps to show off. SKiLLz are great and cool, but it only takes one screw up to ruin your day.

The why bother in this situation is because this IS the only game in town. Similar parking difficulties exist in the east coast. I think the OP was using this as an example of what drivers are up against: truck stops and rest areas designed for 30' trailers. If you try parking at an off ramp in the Seattle-Tacoma area, I guarantee you will be looking at a ticket and/or towing bill that will exceed $2K.

I ALWAYS try to pay it forward. I like starting in the middle of the night. Usually that means there's a poor trucker trying to find a parking spot. I will flag him/her down and let them know I'm about to leave. Can't count the number of times I've seen that look of relief on a trucker's face when I tell them to pull around to set up before I pull out.

Hopefully it was! Whenever I start a "vampire" shift I always try to find a driver circling the lot and help them get in position before I pull out.

    Always pay it forward.

If I have a choice, I avoid P/FJ's and Love's like the plague. Give me a TA/Petro or especially an independent truck stop. In Seattle it's a real problem. You HAVE to know your hidey holes.

I'm in the east coast all the time. I know the drill.

The driver ended up peeling off and doing something else anyhow in the vid. Guess there was at least one other option.
