I understand your point. However I have a serious doubt there is many "burger flippers" that are making an average of $500 to $1500 a week before taxes.

You can get a suspected DUI for making basic mistakes in sloppy driving. Here in Arkansas they seize your vehicle on arrest. Bye bye vehicle. You wont be getting it back.

Makes you think hard before you consider running out for a few drinks.

I personally been sober many years and it's not bad. On the other hand I am a pain patient and wait more than the federal required 7x7 last dose time line before touching my vehicle. I keep drivers on hand for medicine days. I would be done if i incurred a DUI myself based on medicine here in this state. That is something that's not going to happen.

I have a little test also to go with another medicine related to muscles. I draw a spiral, if i can see a good clean spiral without spikes in either center or edge that looks like a V then my muscle system is good to go for driving.

Two DUI's with a CDL I believe is a bad thing. Whatever the reason. Now old time DUI's 15 years ago?" Big deal. Water under the bridge.

I can go on, however this industry is ruled by Insurance. If they say yes or no that's that. All the state and federal rules, laws etc out the window. People are human and we are not perfect. Whatever the situation it was, it's been either water under the bridge or something that will have to be taken care of.

$15 ( what they are paying to get help around here) x40 hrs is $600. They sleep in their own bed.

You are going to find strange things all over. I know of a gal that works in a Norfolk strip club and can make anywhere from $75 to $200 a night in tips just shaking her can. Also I have a serious doubt many of those 15 bucks an hour jobs are getting 40 hours. Lets not compare these jobs, please.

    Just passing by Thanks this.

Why? It is a fact that with manufacturing picking up around here it has stressed the normal OTR companies in middle Tennessee.

Plain and simple folks can take home $700 on a Monday to Friday job. In fact the various plants around here have been raising wages to the point a lot of the, well for lack of a better term, desperate folks that would suffer those 38-42 cent a mile companies have options that do not involve sleeping in a coffin.

Part of the reason fast food is going up.

Hell warehouse work around here is 18 an hour.

Folks that have dui's, horrible driving records that used to flock to Carolina Cargo, PAM, Big G, CRST now infest the workforce here.

Hold on! When did we change from flipping burgers to skilled jobs working in a factory? There are tons of jobs out there that pay more then trucking does. I was speaking to comparing flipping burger jobs to trucking!

I lost my CDL. I can no longer drive. I did not lose my CDL because of my actions. I lost it because of my health and lost my drivers license period. I was offered a job by a contractor that paid almost $50 an hour with paid travel. Only problem is I can't drive and I really wanted to work in trucking. For the time invested I agree Trucking is not that great. However it still pays better the flipping burgers and when the day comes that flipping burgers pays like that a burger will cost $30 or more, no thank you!

It is not skilled jobs in these factories. It is put bolt a in component b and send down the line.

Folks that used to take the 8 an hour burger flipping are now doing that for 16+. Fast food around here has had to raise their payscale to keep them.

Well we have lost some. Bojangles shut down. McDonald's got a new franchisee that is building a new one. Burger King may close next month. Chick fil et is ok but they pay 15. Zacmxbys is right around that. Hardee's is only 12 but super flexible on work schedule......

Having teen age kids working around town shows what the labor market is like. These bottom feeder companies are going to have to adapt or perish.

I agree, in fact just about every carrier I know of is looking for drivers. There is a huge amount of people in the food chain with trucking that are taking and not adding anything. As long as this continues Trucking is going to have problems. We will see what the future holds for trucking.
