So another individual didn’t do his research, ran out and got his authority, and is now struggling/failing, and wants to blame the “system”.
What other owner operators will not tell you when you are new.

Not a smart guy bashing one of the better people on this site that understands business. Might listen to the man and learn from him as he has given a lot to this site and sure many people on here agree.Slim51, Another Canadian driver, Feedman and 8 others Thank this.

Hmm I seem to be something wrong since I only work off load boards. But thanks for letting me know I can only make it if I do it your way. Can you write a book for me so I can make it?Another Canadian driver, Feedman, kros and 4 others Thank this.

Most stuff she says in common sense and can be found on your own. Dat has pretty much everything set up to show you those numbers. Not really a trade secret just a tool if you follow the market. Find the market that works for you and don't follow that crap is more useful information.Another Canadian driver, Feedman, NorthEastTrucker and 5 others Thank this.

I was leased on to a company that took 25% off the top for power only .
But they had almost unlimited freight from one shipper at rates about 40 to 100% higher than everyone else .
Was leased on with another one for regional power only and they paid a combo of a daily , milage and per stop ,
I did ok . Especially since it was regional and I wasn’t running randomly all over the country , I had an older paid for rig .
I paid $15k for it and then spent about that much every year on maintenance and repairs .Another Canadian driver, NorthEastTrucker, gekko1323 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The OP holds the opinion that there is some conspiracy afoot to prevent him, or anyone else from discovering the true pitfalls and risks of being an owner operator.
He is entitled to his opinion. This industry is clearly not a good fit for him.
I happen to disagree, the information is readily available.
I wish him well in his next endeavor.Another Canadian driver and Oxbow Thank this. -
Everyones situation is different and for some Leased onto a Carrier now might be better for those who don't have direct customers. Currently, I'm glad I'm leased onto a carrier because of these average rates on load boards. I had a couple links for direct customers but unfortunately not setup for their 20 truck minimum they requested along with trailers.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

I totally agreed with you, however I need to add something there . We need to factor in this equation, the "O/O" . I don't blame the brokers for what is going on in this industry. I blame O/O. I blame drivers. We are the ones who are dumb to accept what brokers want to pay for your hard and honest work. O/O are so dumb that they don't know their worth in this industry. Think about it! We , the independents O/O are hauling loads and taking 100% of the responsibility. If the load does not get delivery in excellent condition, We will pay for it. Brokers have not responsibility. And we are so @#$% that we let them dictated our pay.
Brokers do not point a gun to your head and tell you to haul their loads!!!! We are doing it because we are F@#$% Id@#$tsAnother Canadian driver, Short Fuse EOD and NH Guy Thank this.
