What Pay Should I Expect for Crude Hauling outside the typical oilfields?

Utah is going to be alot different than New Mexico. Mountains, chaining up, pulling trains. If your coming out of Utah, you'll typically do 1 load a day. Out and back.

 

From what I've seen in the last week of interviewing with different companies, crude hauling pays around $25 / hour with no experience in the GIllette, Wyoming area. I couldn't say what 2 years of experience would get you.

 

Never been hourly hauling crude. Always by the load. I know coastal plains has a yard in wright, wy. There paid hourly along with the man camps of that suits you. Silvercreek is hourly, there down by Douglas, Wy. Other companies to consider are Praire Field Services, Hoffman, Black Hills, and Badlands. I've been a 3rd party to some of these outfits. If you have any questions feel free to ask

 

25 is way too low for crude unless they also paying loaded miles on the side or something

 

When I work for Sunoco 8 years ago I was bringing home anywhere from 1,800 to 2,200 every 2 weeks. Which seemed kind of low because things were so expensive and the permian basin. I'd get at least 30 an hour. That's about the going rate for any trucker these days

 

Indeca is hiring out in west tx right now.
They provide housing and all that.
They said take home was around 5k every 2 weeks.
I tried jumping on that but I'm convinced my cdl is burned now...

Definitely check them out. Crude hauling is very ez. I was gonna stay at the mentone mancamp since its closer to all the leases and offloads for max profit.

Their other location was Monahans but i wanna say you'd have more deadhead if u drive outta that yard.

 

How do you know 5000 every 2 weeks ? Can you list your source ?

 

not one for resurrecting old posts but if you catch this and are up to giving some details of the day to day with these outfits mentioned above I'd appreciate it. i'm used to oilfield man camps just curious how this would work for a guy that would basically fly in, no ride.

 

I didn't know oil tankers paid that low. Wyoming isn't a cheap place to live and I doubt they get OT after 40 there. 25/hr would let you live in the truck and eat at a stinker store and not much else. Also, that side of Wyoming is kind of lame in my opinion. Never liked Douglas, Casper, Gillette etc. Unless I was raking in over 100k/yr and only doing driving I wouldn't live there.

The cost of living in Cali and UT are very high especially around SLC. If you're not paying over 30/hr and OT after 40 I'm not working for you personally. Unless maybe you live down in Arkansas or something, you can't survive.

I get a laugh out of these driving jobs paying .40cpm or 20/hr. Maybe if I was living at home with parents and was 21 or something I'd do it. Not going to work 60 hours a week to live paycheck to paycheck and maybe able to afford a studio apartment. Average house in the US costs 400k dollars now, average mortgage is 7%. Local rents here in Washington are almost 2k/mo for a studio/1br apartment.

Before I got into ltl I was close to leaving trucking all together. Not going to do a job I hate just to live out of my vehicle or truck. I'll find a job that's easy and somewhat enjoyable if I've got to do like half the town here and live in a Winnebago and walk to the Wendy's for a part time shift everyday. At least at jobs like that OSHA doesn't fine the worker and end their career for the company taking shortcuts like the DOT can.
