Honestly.??? How can some of these more “ decent “ companies expect someone to continue to work for a company that most everyone in this industry already know, or have a good idea, that they completely use and abuse their drivers.?? I’m a good driver with a really strong work ethic, and a passion for being a trucker. I do own a couple of really, really nice pre-Emissions W900L’s, that I basically use just to joyride my girlfriend, and fetch groceries in. However I began my career as an O/O straight out of CDL school. But I was lucky to just net fuel money at the end of every pay period. So I stopped doing that because I was just putting tons of miles on my equipment and not making enough money to justify the wear and tear. I’m pretty much just up against the wall here.. But I value your opinion and experience so I can’t really go against the wisdom of someone who obviously has much more knowledge about this industry than I obviously do. Thank you Mr. China town, and plz keep the good advice coming….

If you want the lease then look at Trekker Logistics, I believe they hire SAP and they're better than SuperEgo in my opinion.. they have a percentage lease that seems good to ok.. easy lanes..you would run a triangle from Dallas to Denver, the over to eastern Iowa/Chicago area, then back to Texas.. I never minded Chicago. May be worth a look if you live close to those areas. Maybe stay where you're at a few months then check it out.. All The Best!

Agreed here. Sure Super Ego gets a lot of flack. It is a well known company, a d it gets you behind the wheel time. That's the most valuable thing in trucking, even moreso than endorsements. Figure out their system, and stay as long as possible. You may have to stick with it longer than a few months but you got a job. Keep your head above water and survive. Better days ahead.

To be honest, credit should go to his supportive spouse, who saved him from sheer utter destruction:p, he knows I kid, kind of, but persistence is the key here. Just for the record, companies are beginning to accept drivers with certain records. While violent crimes are still not tolerated, simple crimes like drugs or traffic crimes are being considered, but it will be a while. And generally, not many Chinatown offers. Companies say they are SAP compliant, just to see who is out there, but very few actually get hired. Hang in there, work on a dock, or yard shuttle, and history has shown, once a burnout, always a burnout, companies know this just from the people they see, and a lot against you, but it can be done. Good luck

Yard dogging is a bad idea. I did it nine years. At one point I wanted to get back on the road, somewhere around year 5. Found a job paying 100k hauling hotshot. Was told no that I didn't have recent verified experience. They said they dont consider yard dogging experience. I called a bunch of LTL companies who said the same thing.

Funny, Trader Joe's does consider 2 million miles plus as experience enough to drive there yard goat.

Yep. It's almost like if you can do one then you can do the other. As a yard dog I have moved any box from 12 ft to 53, refers, and tankers. I've back them into doors at a plant that was built in the 1800s and designed for horse ans buggies. One door, I had to blind side into a door that had 3 cuts you had to make to avoid a wall on your blind side. On live railroad tracks used to switch train cars and on the blind side the was a large pool of water that would shoot out steam and blind you mirrors and if it rained it was 30 times as bad. But I didn't have the ability to drive a hotshot up and down the road.

You were doing well until this post.
    Here’s your problem: SAP.
Take everything else out and throw it away. No talk about work ethic. No talk about safe and courteous. No talk about passions for the job. Anything that you could say positive about yourself no longer counts. In trucking company eyes, you are the bottom of the barrel. Some bottom of the barrel company gave you a job. You are complaining about a bottom company’s treatment of a bottom driver. Better companies won’t touch you until you prove you are better than a bottom of the barrel driver. How do you go about doing this?
