In the summer of 1991, while stationed in Germany, I was struck by lighting. They found me lying in a puddle of water. When I regained consciousness I was fine but I have had some memory problems ever since then. Mostly it is the short term memory I have problem with, like if someone asks what I ate for breakfast.

The experience did not make me fear lightning, I just consider it one of those thing that just happen to people.

I wonder if anyone else on here as had the same type of experience?

Most are evolutionary, experts say, and develop as a response to situations thought to cause harm, such as a poisonous bite, or, in the case of a closed space, those that make us vulnerable to a predator. And if they aren't innate, we can easily pick them up from our parents or by watching a frightening experience, such as a near-drowning.
