I need help everyone. I've been out of school 3 months and dont know who will take me. I got hired at Con-way truckload and went for training on November 10. I finished their boot camp training and was assigned a finisher. While i was with my finisher, i got a phone call that my father had leukemia and was going to be getting chemotherapy the following week. I am an only child, so i wanted to get home to be with him and help as i could. Now i've been out of work since november 17th. My father is responding well to the treatment and i feel comfortable with leaving again. Problem is ive been out so long i dont think anyone will take me, unless i go for a refresher. But i dont have the cash a refresher since ive been out of work for a while. Ive been in contact with conway and have to speak with someone on monday to see what can be done. But if they say no im screwed. Any advice on who will give me a chance.

Not all companies require a refresher. Maverick comes to mind but they are frozen until at least next month. I'm sure there are others. Good luck though.

I didn't know that some companies don't require a refresher. I already tried with maveric but they have freeze. What other companies don't require a refresher?

There are a couple reasons for the confusion around refreshers. The most common period of time before requiring one is 6 months, with some companies like Trans Am being extreme at 30 days. However, MOST companies don't want to see an employment gap of any kind for more than 30 to 45 days which is a big reason a lot don't get hired.

Try Roehl out of Marshfield WI. Not sure what their status is regarding inexperienced drivers at the moment, but doesn't hurt to check. They also have a terminal in Gary, IN, pretty close to you.
