My Volvo has 138,000 miles on it and is supposed to get the overhead done and some other things at the 150,000 mile mark. My wife and I put on about 20,000 miles in five weeks on the road so after next time out the truck will have about 158,000. I can either get it done now while on home time or wait until after the next time out but that would mean I would be 8000 miles past the recommended service interval. I called the Volvo dealer and talked with the mechanic and he said a lot of people don’t even bother getting the service done and he is not aware of any issues as far as the warranty goes if I get it done a little late. I have a paranoid mind though and I’m thinking if I do get it done late they might void the remainder of my warranty if a problem pops up. These things have to be scheduled so I really doubt I’ll be able to get it done while we are on the road since we never know where we will be a few days later. So.... should I get it done now or wait until after the next time we go out?
What should I do? Overhead now or wait until I'm home next time?

if you cannot show proof work was done to the warranty administrator at the PROPER times, you could be up the crick without a paddle.
you cannot be FULLY certain, you will b e back at the 150,000 miles point, you may get another load or 2 or 3 that pay great, and you may want to run some more
i say, get it done now, you got time, and peace of mind now.........later, things can go ka-phooeymisterG, Intothesunset, homeskillet and 1 other person Thank this. -

Read the warranty, small print. As far as engine wear or damage. An extra 8000 miles is nothing. If it doesn’t void warranty, I would run it till 158k. Is this the first Overhead? After break in ? If so it may be a warranty issue.

i would probably get 10,000-18000 more miles in and get it done. They will try anything to void your warranty. Second let's say you get overhead but tech put valve too tight " if you will" and you got it done at 158000-160000 then Volvo says well 150,000 was a critical time for that service then what? Get my drift my friend take care of your machine and the dealer/manufacturer cant say you were negligent. 10-4

I don't think it's worth the cost/time to do it so soon unless you notice something change. I would wait a while.
I know you are asking about Volvo and not FL. But... I would let it go over for a while untill it's convenient.Midnightrider909 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I had it done 150k after rebuild big difference.
