Ok, let me make it as brief as possible. I have 9 months experience and just quit the major trucking company I was working for. I really wanted to make it to a year but they were jerking me around too much and I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to work for another company for at least another 3 months to have at least a year experience but my driving record is not good so that company turned me down. Now I am discouraged to apply for another company. So I am thinking about buying my own truck and become an O/O , I have good credit and $5K saved up. Is it a good idea to buy my truck now or find a company that will hire me with my 4 moving violations in the last 3 years? ...by the way during the 9 months I drove a truck ,I only had 1 speeding ticket of 4MPH over the limit, the other 3 violations were from before I drove truck...Thank you for your help !

Were any of those violations for 10 or 15 over the posted speed limit?

    What were all the violations?

Edit to add: you are getting turned down for insurance reasons most likely, being an owner operator won't fix that, you will still need insurance.

It would help us to have a basic idea where you are located. Along which lanes, interstates. Are you in the NE, SE, SW?
Then we can give you possible employers to look at.

Otherwise, keep plugging away. Looking for work, with several infractions is not going to be easy. Especially with thousands of competitors who don't have poor records.

First lesson you should learn out of this is no matter how bad a job is don't resign it until you have another in the bag. A bad job is better than no job.

This just goes to show that there is NO shortage of truck drivers at all. If anything, there is probably an OVERSUPPLY of truck drivers in the United States of America.
