I'm set to head out to Stevens Transport on Jan. 3rd, and I was wondering what training is like, and what I should expect. Do companies expect trainers and students to run like teams? Do trainers expect students to eat out for every meal? How does the sleeping situation work during a reset? How does radio control work? Do trainers let the students use their truck stop rewards cards during fueling?
Answers to these questions and any more y'all can think of will be helpful.
What should I expect during training.

You trainer should be in the passenger seat during all the training, but in reality no. At first the trainer will probably make sure you can drive. He/she should make you do most of the backing. As far as eating out maybe. If your trainer has a cooler it doesn't have room to keep food for two,so you would need to work that out. The sleeping arrangement during reset will be you on the top bunk. As far as radio control work that out with your trainer. No on using your Trainer's reward points, but you can get a T/S reward card at the T/S when you stop. Also if you and the trainer aren't getting along request another.
p0pachery Thanks this. -
I guess I worded the truck stop reward card question strangely. My real question was would the trainer let me use my card during fueling in order to get a free shower? I'm not sure, but I think most of the T/S have a team option for the shower credits.

popachery when you fuel up all you need to tell them is your a team and they give you borth a shower pass

Back in the 70's, running team meant the grunt slept over the "dog house" when the truck was sitting still. Can you say "Midwestern Distribution", "Sam Tanksley", "Caretta", ?
