Alot of smaller companys are like this.
They want to know you can do the job. That is it.
If you have been off the road that long how do you like these fancy new trucks and trailers? Air ride is nice.
I tested for my CDL in what was an almost new, modern as heck cabover. Trailer was a new fangled 48 foot job with sprung suspention and fancy anti lock breaks.
That was as good as it got in 1991 lol.
Now you are hard pressed to find a sprung trailer or class 8 truck, and you know what? I love it. They ride so nice now.

Come over to Knight Dryvan! Trailers are sprung, and the Volvos ride so bad, they feel like they are too!

I got up there early... waited around til 2 and then walked up the guy was there and told me to just relax for a bit and he would come out when he was done with the other guy.... so........................ I waited for about 40 mins standing outside..... finally he comes out.... he takes me to where I did the class and lets me go around the range to get use to shifting the tranny... it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but for whatever reason had some problem on the button downshift.....well get out on the road im nervous but doing ok.....i kept it at about 5 miles below the limit just to be on the safe side.... took a trailer up to a place they haul out of and dropped it... turned around and bobtailed back to the yard.... we get back..... and we are sitting there and he says well you didn't scare me... lol....... I think you did a pretty good job the only thing that I would like to see is you keep up with the speed limit like if its 55 do 55-60......... I said ok... he said well... Im not going to lie to ya... I have 4 other people coming in to do a road test this week and I want to give them all a chance first.... I will call you Friday... have a safe trip home..................

I would have been a little more aggresive about making sure he knew how bad you wanted the job. I can pull this off, its just my personality. I will cross my fingers for you. Good Luck!!

I didn't want to press my luck on anything.... I did the best I could driving and let that do the talking. He seemed impressed with my MVR since i dont have any tickets... I knew there was at least one other guy going for the road test which was in my class too I was under the impression that he needed a few drivers... not just one.
