While I understand the frustration and wanting to become pro-active regarding possible future incidents such as this. I would have to say that the possibility in you getting another company to pay for damages to your vehicle based on a submitted video on a USB thumb drive are remote. But, the youtube videos that are sure to hit the net as a result in popularity of dash-cams recorded in USA truckstops this day in age will be priceless and I'm looking forward to viewing them.
What should I look for in a dash cam?

I only delete the video off it if I change settings on it. It normally just overwrites unless there is a triggering event.
BTW: It is ok at night, but its not night vision. It sees just slightly better than your eyes., but not by much.
I chose this dashcam based on my neighbors (repairs the local police vehicles) recomendation. I know there are probably cheaper cameras out there that might be just as good, so I am not suggesting someone rush out and buy one of these, but I do highly recommend that If you want something decent, at least get one WITH GPS AND 3D SHOCK sensors. Its the only way to cover your buht when it comes down to it, otherwise the video is not proof at all of who hit who most of the time.
