He doesn't have to start out with a so called bottom feeder. He has a Class-A so Maverick might hire him right now. Prime Inc. might hire him and pay him $600.00 a week while he's being trained; he can choose flatbed, refrigerated or tanker. Another good option is Central Refrigerated. Tell him to apply with these 3 companies online and see what the response is. He doesn't have to accept the job offers.

I think only your friend could answer that question. Does he have family? Can he picture being away from home for at least two weeks at the time (starting with a large trucking company) Now as far as 13.50 per hour nowadays its not much since cost of living is rising from year to year and i think he should be able to make at least that much to start with in trucking (as far as CPM)... hope this helps alittle

He passed a DOT physical for his Class-A even though he has asthma, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I think he should sell all his worldly belonging for pennies on the dolla and get in a truck...... and tell us where the garage sell is...
Seriously only he can answer that.... If I had no life to speak of ... 10 to 21 days at a time wouldn't be to bad away from home... for a year or 2....... -
Is he willing to give up a regular life working a steady schedule for working 70 hours a week across all hours of the clock living in a truck?
A truck driver doesn't really make $13.50 an hour in comparison because they work the hours of two jobs to get their pay.
You give up them regular things with friends and family, the conveniences of home and push your circadian limit. About 1 in 6 make it a year. You either hate it with a passion or love it. It's a lifestyle and not just a job.
Evidently he has a medical card. He is not to have any respiratory dysfunction that interferes with driving. He must of got cleared by his doctor. Getting a company physical might be a challenge. I would bring a letter from your doctor stating your asthma doesn't interfere with your driving.Ali 221 Thanks this. -
okay i caculated it ...he told me he works 40 hours a week and some over time that comes out to about 540 before taxes a week.... thats pretty good money for a single guy and sleep in his own bed everynight
