I waited until a 2500w went on sale at the pilot and never had a problem running a fridge, toaster oven, an electric guitar/amp and various MacBooks and stuff all plugged in. I only paid a few hundred bucks for the biggest inverter they had and it still works 7 years later.

Most inverters use the same electronics inside and are sold by different 'brands' the most important thing is to install it properly.
