Yeah I hear ya on going to different stations as I’ve seen some that look easy and some look very difficult to get in or out of. When you get carded is that in addition to twic card?. Do you need another card to enter rack?.

    Rugerfan Thanks this.

Twic card is completely different from a rack card

What slows down most gas haulers is engine brakes and service brakes, in my opinion.

I had to have the twic card to even get a rack card... most of the time you have to load 3 or 4 times with a rack operator watching you before you can get full card access... kinda like a hotel key they give you so you can access the gate and then access the load screen

Gotcha, are you able to get a rack card during the training phase?. Or do you get one when you go out on your own to deliver gas.

    Tips for new gas hauler.

    1) If you don’t know the station walk it first and look for what someone else hit. Now you know what to avoid.

    2) Check the address. Most wrong station deliveries happen long before you get to the station. Stations down the street from each other can get you in trouble.

    3) Walk your hoses to make sure the right product goes in the right hole. I have never contaminated a station but I came close a few times. Walk your hoses.

    4) Put out your cones. That is now your property. No one is allowed on your property. Put the cones close enough together so idiots don’t drive between them and into the fills or over your hose. Yes people are that stupid.

Most mistakes happen from experienced drivers cutting corners. If you do things the way you should it is slower at first but then all of a sudden it is as fast as cutting corners. You just need to learn the dance.

In San Jose the load time was about 15 – 20 min and off load was 30-45 min. I did 6 loads of gas or 8 loads of Jet in a 12 hour shift. Traffic was the main thing that slowed me down.

One thing that always helped me, was to google map the station as soon as I got my dispatch. Street view and satellite view were great for seeing where the fills are and how to get in the station the correct way

MrJoop, Isafarmboy and shogun Thank this.
