    Alaska!

What other state has winter driving conditions for 6 months of the year and as high a transient population as Alaska? None. We get a huge percentage of new residents each year that have zero driving experience in winter snow and ice. Alaska roads (few in total miles compared to all other states), but has a high percentage of miles of narrow twisting mountainous roads without shoulders clogged by hordes of visiting tourists in RVs, many are rentals of all sizes, while many of the locals are desperate to pass so that they can enjoy the weekend during our very brief summer.

Alaska drivers in general suck, until they get some miles and exposure to the ever changing conditions just in time for them to be either transferred out, or leave because they cannot deal with the climate.

Every time I visit anyplace out of state I am impressed and relieved by the improvement in roads, driving conditions, and behavior of drivers in general, comparatively.

I recently had a hidden cop flash his lights at me when my high beams hit him ...... how am I supposed to know when you are hiding in a ditch with your lights off?

Little off subject(imagine that lol) But back in the day the ol timers w/Fl HP.....Prided themselves at being able to hit you right between the eyes...in pitch darkness w/their door mounted spotlights if you were speedin....pretty tough to do if ya think about it....then if they didn't see brake lites&a pretty serious immediate reduction in speed....you were Toast---but if you got the msg&could scrub it off like you were pretty well under control you got a pass....ah simpler times
