I am leased to a carrier, base plated in Oregon, living in California. I wanted to transfer my title to Oregon, but they have really tough proof of residency requirements. I believe there are states that will let you title/license a truck without being a resident. Anybody here know which ones?

Check with OOIDA, I think Oklahoma is one.
I'm not an 0/0 so haven't had to deal with that.

I was leased to Crete Carrier. My truck was titled in Nebraska. I am a NC resident. I later leased onto a NC based company. I handed over my Nebraska title and the company gave me a NC tag and I then received a NC title in the mail.

I have a title in Ga. But have the trk. licensed in Il. Title still Ga.
You might look into Ok. like other posters have steted, but you will need what they call a resident agent for that state..

I don't think Oklahoma still allows those without a physical address to title or tag in the state. They got into a big lawsuit with Illinios several years ago for allow so many non residents to title in Oklahoma and then Oklahoma supposedly did not pay the state their fair share of the fees. I think it was after that when most states started to require proof of residency. If your company is based in Oregon, you might be able to use their address or even find a PO Box in the state.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

You may have to start a LLC in that state to legally title it in that state.

Not a terrible idea. DE and NV are still popular for that. Also nice having those states laws working for you.

I know a guy who lived in California and titled his equipment in Oregon or Washington. I don't remember which. He used a relative's physical address.

I remember that now, I think it was Ohio that filed the lawsuit against Oklahoma. The problem was that the outfit in Oklahoma was averaging miles instead of using actual miles.
