12 years ago,my sister and her husband moved out into a new house out in the country, and two of my son's (aged 12 &10)then,and I went to visit. As we were pulling into their 3/4 of a mile driveway, the oldest boy remarked about the strange lights in the sky;they were amazing to look at,I thought about it,and since it WAS winter, told them it was the "Northern lights".....My sister later informed me,they were the super powerful search lights for the Indian Casino,- "Jackpot Junction" 12 miles away in Morton,Mn....I later blamed the 1970's on that one..

Every now and again I will see a driver actually wash his hands after using the restroom. Sometimes I think Im the only one
-
Ya know, that is so true....pisses me off when I see it happen, especially after a driver has gone to take a dump and just walks out the door! Then I see them putting their dirty hands on stuff in the store.....ick! That's one of the reasons I will NOT do the buffet any more. Even when drivers just piss, they still need to wash their hands. I guess ya can call 'em idiots?

There aren't many places to live in Furnace Creek. Been there twice and I am going back again here in about a month just to enjoy the nice HOT weather.

The weirdest thing I saw was when I was at the Furnace Creek Inn (big old hotel on the hill, really nice place) I went in to change cloths after working on the truck and I went to meet some people at the car to get dinner. I look up the valley (to the north west) and saw nothing but dust. A big dust storm was heading our way. It took up the whole valley. I waited for two hours and it never hit. I took a picture with my cell phone, it wasn't a good picture. It was about 117 degree and a strong wind.

Yeah, that really is not that unusual a sight out there. The other one that I saw several times where rain storms that you just knew where going to hit the resort/visitor center area. But for the most part they would split right around it.
You'd have rain sort of "hanging in" along the Funeral Range on the N/E and rain out across the flats. But Furnace Creek would seldom see much of it.
FWIW, I was there for eight years. Lived and worked out of Furnace Creek Ranch, which is the lower part of the resort you are talking about. -
Once, when leaving L.A. I stopepd at the TA. in Ontario, CA. I weighed my truck and went to the scale building to get my truck weight ticket and there was another driver at the counter ahead of me. That driver was obviously some tall skinny man, until he turned around. Imagine some manly, man that had rouge and lipstick on as if applied by a 3 year old. The guy looked like a younger Dan Rather, but he had these bright red circles of rouge on his cheeks and bright red lipstick. He was dressed in a clean dress shirt and blue jeans, so it didn't seem like it was a lesbian trying to pass as a man and other than the makeup it didn't look like a man trying to pass as a woman. WTF?
I was going back and forth to L.A. frequently back when comet Hale-Bopp was in the sky. I got to see it from the dark sky area between I-10 and I-40 in Arizona or NM.
Once coming out of CA on I-40 I stopped at a closed inspection station in NM or AZ. The place was empty and abandoned except for me. I was trying to fix a trailer light problem at 2 am and turned around to see this big age 60-ish Indian smiling at me. Scared the ##### out of me. He never said a word, but I bluffed him and said "I've got no money, you're not getting a ride anywhere, and my day has been so sh*tty shooting you couldn't make it any worse." He never said a word and we both left ASAP. I hope he was just a drunk, but he had the drop on me for sure. -
Whe don't have that kind of weather in Indiana so for a kid use to corn fields and bean fields that was neat for me to see.

How would you ever confuse a driver "spanking his monkey" with him eating a hot-dog?
Hell, the motions aren't even similar. -
That sounds like what a buddy of mine does. He USED to be "large" until cancer whittled him down. (He survived cancer going on 7 years)

Well I got one to add to this, and I don't care if anyone believes it or not, because I saw what I saw and I had never been so scared of anything in my life.
A few years ago, about 2AM, I was heading West out of Ashland Wisconsin on US 2. A couple miles out of town, there is this clearing off to the left of the highway where the road splits into three lanes for awhile. Well, I look off in that clearing and there is what appears to be an aircraft just hovering there with what looked like landing lights on. Except the lights where red and pulsating. I've never been into UFOs so I didn't give it much thought, except why would an aircraft be out over an empty field in the middle of the night? I turned down US 63 towards Hayward WI, I had to go to the Louisiana Pacific plant down there. I'm the only one on the road, I have the radio on, and everything is fine, except I have that weird feeling that I'm being followed, but there was no one around. I get to Drummond, and there is a curve heading towards the left coming out of it, its just a half mile long town, and there is a little lake type deal off to the left of the highway through there. I happen to glance in my left mirror out of habit, and what I saw made my heart stop for what seemed like a good minute. It looked like that New Years ball of lights that they drop in New York coming over that lake right towards me! I put that little Mack 427 to the floor and did 80mph the rest of the way to Hayward, I was actually hoping to get pulled over so there would be someone else with me. I didn't dare glance in the mirror the rest of the way there. After I got loaded at LP, I actually waited till daylight to leave because I had to go back the way I came. For a long time after that, anytime something out of the ordinary in the sky moved, I would freak out bad.
After that, I've asked several people about UFOs in Wisconsin, and couldn't believe how many stories/reports there are of them here, especially by Lake Superior. One person thought it might have been a secret military aircraft, but why would they be following a plain jane old truck around in the middle of the night, I didn't even have any chicken lights, lol!
