I am trying to identify the biggest headache about working with shippers/brokers. This survey is 12 questions and takes about 4 minutes. If you do not have time just type your biggest problem here. Help find and solve the biggest problem in trucking.

Link to survey The Hardest Part About Dealing with Brokers/Shippers Is...

About me: I have worked in transportation for 10 years. I quit my job to move to CA to find a bigger problem to solve. I started with Schneider National then started my own brokerage. That sucked. Then I went to work for USA Truck's brokerage department and eventually became an office manager. I love the industry and want to find a really big problem to solve

My biggest problem with shippers is preventing a usa truck from removing my hood. That also seems to be my biggest problem at the j in texarkana.

Simple answer. Dishonesty. Both over promise and under produce.

Is there something they are more dishonest about more than others?

Thanks. Do you see more issues with pick up or delivery times or is it equal?

It really depends on what you haul but both parties are guilty. Reefer is notorious for long wait times on both ends.

For me the biggest annoyance have been brokers that offer ridiculous rates on heavy loads. The most ridiculous rate I was given was $0.82 a mile (simple divide the amount paid by miles) and this was on a 44,000 load coming from KY to NC.

Is there anything that you have done in the past to prevent the long times. When I was a broker and a driver had to be unloaded to pick up our next shipment I would call the receiver and ask them to get them in and out as quick as possible. Sometimes it worked. Most times it did not.

Thanks. Is it when they call you or when you call them it happens most.

Have you done anything to try and prevent them offering you bad rates?
