I have 3+ years pulling a tank in last 5 but it was food grade. After pulling a reefer regional for the last month I have to go back pulling a tank, but, want to pull a chemical tank as they pay WAY better than food grade bottom feeders. Hazmat not a problem but will have 2 get a twic card. I am looking at Altom Transport, service transport co,enterprise and maybe coal city cobb co. Anybody have any info or work for any of these outfits.I have talked with altom drivers and they all like it there but want to get all the info I can b4 makin a decision. That's something I failed to do in the past but" once burned a lesson learned" thanks yall!

    Check out

    Trimac ( where I work )
    Superior Carriers

That's the 2 best out there in my opinion as far as large carriers go

I am still pullin the ol icebox in my little regional circle but there is absolutly no respect associated w/this job! The gaurds that want to be on the swat team but work at "the chicken plants" act like I am supposed 2 fall to my knees to get in and out of the smelly nasty plant. Most of these trkn co out here are all the same its the way your treated that is the difference. The last 3 yrs pullin a tank I felt more respected as a professional. I might stay where I am but its a lot of time spent on droppin, hookin ,dealin w/gaurds,and loosing 10percent of miles every week that puts a sour taste in da mouth. When u run 2000 miles a week and get paid for 1750-1800 and your ave length of haul is 200 miles- u do a load for free every week basically. Anyhoo I don't want 2b capt griper but there it is... TAN-FO! I don't have a problem with jbs just all the shinola of pullin a reefer and dealin with pilgrims pride day in an day out. Well I've ranted enough..

Enterprise is going to have the Bennie's and the size. Lots of room to move around there. They just sold a friend of mine a truck, a good deal too. Altom has some fine looking stuff, no doubt........but those Pete's, all that chrome and that paint costs money.......I'd have to look real deep there. Cobb just went through a period of selling all his trucks to the drivers and then he bought more and started hiring company hands again, kinda of a flip flop.

KY24 likes Trimac, and I did too except my terminal ( Houston ) has serious payroll problems. Maybe speak to Sam in Beaumont, he has the Goodyear account. He's cheaper than Houston but if you can't collect it....what's the point? I ended up leaving over this issue and yes...I tried to get it solved. Seems the payroll gal has a photo of someone in a compromising position with a farm animal. Nuff said....

Being in the piney woods don't give you many choices but If I didn't buy my own, I would have chosen Enterprise....the Bennie's are killer.

    Good luck on the hunt.......

As far as pay goes personally I've only had one issue with trimac ... Which was my error ( didn't get a sig for Deimurge ) so I really couldn't complain but after I brought it up they did still pay me.
    Other than that I can't complain .

I was at a union ran terminal for a while I started at a non union and thought the grass was greener but my advise to anyone is stay non union the extra pay is not worth the hassle . ( enough on the inion fiasco )

But trimac over all is a great place to work I'm happy , I'm paid on time , I was able to get out of the union and go back non union
( due to inforseen issues )

    Suggestion

    1. Fill out you paper work
    2. Scan every load via Trans Flo ( print a copy at home ) The company pays for this 100% company or IC
    3. Document your delays
    4. Use the QC ( document your delays )

In a nut shell do as you are trained you won't have a issue getting your money at trimac and even if you do mess up you still will get paid just takes more time to verify ( Deimurge , delay , etc )

I do agree about Altom ( not certain )

But if it's chromed out and IC SPEC'ed as a CO unit you gotta be paying for it somewhere else .. Be it .. ( benefits , 401, vision , boots , CPM , etc )

But like I said I can't be certain I've talked to 2-3,Altom drivers over the past 2 yrs or so and they seemed happy ... No bad things to say

    So it boils down too

Different Strokes ... For ... Different Folks

KY, I take exception to your comment. You weren't there, didn't do the work etc. My paperwork was meticulous.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY DRIVER TO GET A NEGATIVE $45.00 CHECK ESPECIALLY WHEN HE REPORTS ALL DAYS AND WORKS ALL DAYS.

IN HOUSTON SOME 4 PEOPLE HANDLE A COMPANY DRIVERS CHECK BEFORE IT REACHES THE DRIVER, NONE OF THESE 4 EVEN REMOTELY QUESTIONED MY STATUS TO SEE WHY THE CHECK WAS NEGATIVE.

IT'S NOT JUST THIS CHECK EITHER...30 OUT OF 38 WERE WRONG IN SOME FASHION.
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE.

I STAND FIRMLY BY MY ORIGINAL OP AND OFFER PROOF TO RESPONSIBLE REBUTTAL. PM ME AND I WILL SEND YOU PHONE NUMBERS OF KEY PEOPLE WHOM ARE FULLY AWARE OF THE FACTS. TRIMAC / HOUSTON BRANCH 307 HAS PAYROLL PROBLEMS AND YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE GETTING YOUR MONEY.

    IT'S YOUR BALL DRIVER......
