    To whom it may concern.....

So well... my drives-shaft completely fell out of the truck (woo...) and I am broken down on I41 Wisconsin(BIGGER WOO!!....).. Ten minutes after I'm on the shoulder, with my triangles out......... here behold, two DOT officers (one male and one female) pull up behind me and ask me; "Everything Ok".. I reply back.. "Drive shaft, waiting for tow truck ! On it's way..."............. Male officer looked pretty cool... then female jumps in and says "Well, get your paperwork ready, I'll be back for a Level 1".

they are currently conducting a LEVEL 1 inspection.. on the SHOULDER of the highway. Female Officer is conducting the inspection and well.. I asked her, "Ma'am, in all honesty, I know you're doing job but I'm having a bad day as you can tell, why are you guys even doing this? You checked my logs, my cdl, med card, truck folder, everything checks out okay.. why even go any further. My truck's down, I'm down, everything is down."

    She replies back:

"Deal with it, this is the state of WI. You aren't in IL"

    WTF!!!?
    ####### hell.

Can anyone explain just what she meant by that? There must be some sort of difference between the CMV Enforcement policies that I am not understanding.

Translation: we need cash by writing you up for citations. Just like how Ohio does it with their gestapo motor carrier safety units parked on every speed trap

I wouldn't push my luck if I were you...
    (1) she has hand cuffs
    (2) she probably has a night stick

that could turn unpleasant if she tells you to turn around and put your hands on the car..

I don't know if that is it. I was told that WI DOT is now federally funded, so now all they worry about is meeting the set quota of inspections. All revenue from violations goes back the the FMSCA,

That could be it, but it contradicts what I was told by my boss.

Confusing that they'd even perform inspection at all being that you're broke down and there is obviouslyrics a problem with your rig. scumbags seems like.

In 21 years of long haul the biggest PIA DOT officers I have encountered have been in WI...

especially that little Tom Cruise looking pecker head that use to work the eastbound Madison scale back in the 90's..
