the owners manuals call for white grease on them. most don't which is why they burn out so bad, I've seen alot of trucks with socks on them. they are cheap enough to fix that I would just buy new ones and not deal with it. I bought a old international that had them worn and socks on it and all it did was stop the squeek, the hood started rubbing though the cab part.
