Just drove a truck up to a tire shop for new steers and a front end alignment. While I was sitting in the lounge messing with my phone, they summoned me to come take a look at this steaming mess. Smoking steaming hot, kinda like oil. Have never seen anything like that in my life. wtf is that?

Wheel seal. Be sure to get it fixed…if those wheel bearings heat up, it will produce a hotter fire than the brakes ever could.

How can oil from the hub get INSIDE the tire?
86scotty, Magoo1968, Feedman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Could be one of two things.
Some of the new on the market liquid squirt in balancing agents will do that. Nasty and eats the inside of the tire.
Or the air supply that aired the tire up was full of oil from a bad compressor or tank full of junk.ncmickey, Accidental Trucker, tscottme and 9 others Thank this. -

My guess is compressor oil leaked when filling tire
