Keep in mind that when your engine warms up the oil pressure will drop. See where it needs to be set when you first park it. Then use that number if you choose to use my method.

I idle my Detroit and yes it will glaze the cylinders. The excessive blow by proves it to me even though I idle it up to 1000 then give it a little pedal raising oil pressure then I bump it down a click at a time till I see pressure barely drop.Leave it around 800 or so. I too was told this trick years ago. I always heard low idle starves Turbo. Recently saw a Pittsburg Power video explaining how the seal needs RPM to seal up.otherwise Turbo slobbers what looks like oil but is fuel that also creates black dried up burnt crusty crap on seal damaging it.So low idling does shorten Turbo life I thought it was due only to low oil pressure . Low idling also will cause all oil seals like pan and valve cover to bleed. I’ve seen that plenty. Never understood why since pressure is lower. Good video on Utube

I may be cheap but it has to be around zero before I idle. I have lots of blankets. I’ll stay warm until I have to get out from under them to start the truck. In the summer I won’t idle until mid 80s I use the fan and cooler of ice. That helps some. I have. 99 isx I’ll idle about 900. Like others said i try to keep oil around 30
