I pack a sandwich for lunch, I can take a leak in less then 7 minutes. I check my stuff before I leave. I don't want to stop the truck when it is rolling. By the time I get pulled in parked, logged, take the break, relog get back out onto the road. An hour has been wasted and more then 60 miles have been lost.
What the new hours of service really mean.

They say the 30 minute break is for rest . What takes more energy , cruising down the interstate 30 minutes or getting off a ramp , finding a parking space , then going back to the ramp and on the interstate ?
Which has the most interactions with other vehicles thereby increasing accident risk ?
This is just another ploy to meet the Teamster goal to reduce the earnings of nonunion drivers .CertifiedSweetie, volvodriver01 and cowboy_tech Thank this. -

At least the women drivers won't be bothered by a 30 min break, we have to stop to pee anyway

Cowpie, you just can not understand math can you? Finding a safe place to take a 30 minute break and getting back out on the road sucks up between 45 minutes to an hour of time during a persons day. That is anywere from 50 to 60 miles further back that puts you every day. For some, if they drive a certain amount of miles each and every day and it takes them a certain amount of time to do it. Now they are having to spend about another hour each day getting back that what was lost by having to take the break. In a seven day stretch they would have to put in an extra 7 hours trying to get that time back or they would be 7 hours behind. It greatly effects my job as it is. it would no be as bad if the break stopped the 14 hour clock but it does not and that is why I and many others hate the 30 minute break mandate.
