So, about 25 years ago (it was during that awful winter we had in the mid 90's), I had just left Montreal late at night, took Autoroute 40 to the 401 in Ontario, and pulled into the Tim Hortons at the service plaza right after the provincial border. It was -40°, with a 60 kmh wind. My trailer was one of those new Pines trailers we bought; cheap and light. It had a PLASTIC junction box mounted on the driver's side of the trailer nose.

I got back to my truck, and found that I had been double-parked in to my left by 2 or 3 trucks. However, the truck which had been on my right had left, which left me an opening to pull hard to the right, pivot the trailer around clockwise, and go around the guy who had blocked me in. About halfway through this maneuver, the junction box shattered in the extreme cold, pulling all the wires out and leaving them flapping in the polar breeze. By the time I finished the maneuver, the pigtail was disconnected.

I was lucky, though, that the adhesive schematic sticker for the thing survived on one large piece of plastic, all the wires were color-coded and the contact pins were all still firmly soldered to the wires. So, I started inserting pins into their respective holes on the pigtail, then duct-taped the whole mess together. It held all the way to Syracuse, where I dropped it and called corporate road service.

On a night like that, I would've waited at least until dawn for service, maybe even longer.
