IF you are lucky, they will provide you with a CB, and a set of keys. Nothing else. Most just give you a set of keys...and a truck.

Oh...the majority will provide a cyber buddy, commonly referred to as a QualCom or QC for short. It beeps insistently at all times. And provides you with a variety of messages that can actually make sense....occasionally.

Everything else. You'll need to bring with you.

Good place to sleep??? That depends on your definition of good. Otherwise, you can buy a truckstop guide. To find those out of the way places.

cb, food water- bottles, good truck map, pens, clothes, shower shoes/stuff, strong trash bags, baby wipes, gps if you want, Dont worry if you forget it, a truck stop will rape you for it.
What do i need to do my job?
what do i need to survive in an environment with no running water?
what can i eat and drink 1 handed if i want to snack or not stop to eat?
what can i bring to be as self-sustained in my truck? (as you may be sitting for long periods and shippers/rec. or not wat to deal with stopping at places to get stuff at first).

If you starting out, get a sirrus or xm radio, constantly trying to find a radio station will annoy the crap out of you.
A cobra 29 cb radio is a good buy, buy your own mount/antenna and cable, DONT SKIMP on cable quality stop at a cb shop and buy the good cable.
A hammer, 3 lb sledge or claw for a tire thumper and frozen brake tool.
A 3 foot crow bar, work very handy for everything
If your not going to canada a 24-36" bolt cutters, more uses then just getting into a trl.
Hacksaw (never know when you hit that buck, take the antlers as a suvenier)
    Snow pants and jacket
At minimum 1 sleeping bag, I carry 2 because I use 1 to seal the drafts from under the bunk
Duck tape, zip ties, at least 2 extra glad hand rubbers, always keep a spare fuel filter in your side box, especially now that there blending biodiesel in the fuel.
A can or ether and jumper cables, a 20 or 30 piece tool kit just the basic wrench tools, sockets arent really needed
a couple pairs of medium to big vice grips, I carry 3 cheapys and 1 true vice grips work for sliding tandems if the pins are disconnectd from the pull arm
2 bungie cords for fueling (you will have that one time where the nozzle pops out and it dont take long to have 5-10 gallons on the ground or in the cab)

A 12volt cooker is a great thing to have, buy a bunch of chuncky soup cans toss one in and a half hour later you got a warm meal thats healthy and cheap

Im seeming jinxed but I try to be prepared for the adventures I wind up having.

As for time killers and conveinent items, I have a att tilt which is like a black berry, works as my phone and internet source for my laptop. Works great if you are a social person that needs the outside world everyday.

All you NEED is a Map, a CB, Peanut Butter, Loaf of bread, Gal. of water and Bedding. Everything else is extra for your own comfort. You can buy the other stuff as you see the need. If you are starting out with a trainer don't be bringin a bunch of crap! Just your clothes, maybe a map for the heck of it. Bring 5 sets of clothes and your toiletries. Thats all you need man. By the time you get your own truck you will know exactly what you want to bring and or buy for your truck......

Both hands and feet, eyes, legs & arms etc. You'll probably also need a truck.
