See if your shop will supply those before you go out and buy them with your own money.
Get a truck specific GPS, all the other stuff you accumulate as you need it. Pretty soon you will be wondering how your truck got filled with so much stuff.
What to bring on your own truck

- Basic meds like aspirin, antacid, etc. Maybe a small first aid kit. Extra shampoo and bar soap. I don't recommend using the "soap" the truck stop showers provide
- If you wear corrective lenses, be sure you have a spare set.
- freezer bags to keep leftovers or other foods fresh after opening
- extra checks, stamps, and envelopes if you may ever find yourself having to mail something or send a check to someone.
- just remember getting to Walmarts and other larger stores can be difficult in a truck, and this becomes more of an issue if you're OTR and do longer tours. So have spares and extras of anything that can be difficult or expensive to obtain outside of your normal sources when home

And on a related note to my earlier post. Don't think to yourself, well, if I run out of cereal, I can buy some at the truck stop. A small box of Lucky Charms cereal that can be bought at Walmart for $3.25 will be $6.25 at a Pilot.
And FYI, buying at dollar stores is not that much better unless you can buy their generic brands. Their package sizes and package counts on name-brand items are so small, when you extrapolate it, they are generally about somewhere between Walmart pricing and convenience store (truck stop) pricing, per "unit"OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
Paper towels, antibacterial wipes, spare combs, contact lens solution, plenty of ink pens, writing tablets, at least a 4 pack of toilet paper for extreme emergencies, .........

DoubleO7 Thanks this.

It doesn't matter what you bring, about an hour down the road you'll think of hundreds of things to get, now that your trainer isn't filling your ears with BS.

Bring a few bath towels., zip lock bags, plastic eating utensils, spare cell phone charger and 120 volt adapter in case you have to motel it.
