Nags me to deliver on time when I know my limits and I know that the road conditions is not safe for travel? They are not even here experiencing firsthand what the weather is like. They probably just decide from the safety of the computer screen. They have a way to play with you psychologically to prod you to get moving. What to do?

YOU are the FINAL decider if it is not safe or safe.

If you are too scared to drive into that raging white out, foot of ice making you slip and fall down onto your ### outside the truck, cracking your head on the fuel tank on the way down... THEN DO NOT DRIVE.

Wait until the big bad scary storn goes bye bye. DO get a new appt time with dispatcher.

They will SCREAM, they will ABUSE you, they will threaten you, they will be PROFANE and NASTY but as long YOU ARE SAFE in a lawful spot, No one can tell you to OUT now. Aint happening. Not until it's safe.

SOMETIMES it's NOT up to you. Some states SLAM the gates on the highway SHUT. You stay put.

Communicate your concerns using your Qualcomm. When they respond dismissing your valid concerns you have a record and some standing.

Many many moons ago I said the same thing as a youngin to a much older driver---when he finished laughin--
    He just nicely stated
"Son remember, when you wreck that SOB--ain't nobody gonna pat you on the back and tell you--it's ok we know you were trying. They jus gonna fire your ###, so ya might wanna keep that in mind."
Run that around in you're head for a while. Stay safe

Like the others said, politely tell them to take a hike, but do it on the Qualcomm (or whatever system your company uses) so there's a paper trail.

Mega company should know better, and likely someone in upper management does. Call the safety dept and talk to them about it.

Also take a picture of the message on the qcomm as sometimes things have a way of mysteriously disappearing.

    Basically always cover your butt.

Do what you want. Yes, you're responsible for safe operation of the vehicle. Maybe or maybe not, you're involved in a truly serious weather event making for dangerous, difficult travel, regardless of experience level. We don't know.

But just keep this in mind ... They have computer screens showing the status of all their other trucks in your area. If most are moving at near normal speeds, and you're not/won't, then this raises questions inside the office.

Yea especially if I hear you crying into your breakfast plate about that big bad winter howler outside and Im fueling myself for battle into it. Be prepared to state your case as a newbie or someone who truly believes in safety. I'll defend you if the company has a dustup about you not moving while I am. Heck they might just fire both of us. Me for being stupid, and you for being too cautious and thus service failure late. //TEASE....
