Lots of pretty good advice I see here. Just make sure when you are making your turn that you have set up properly and don't expect someone to move if you tried making a turn like your in a box truck or four wheeler. I will (almost) always make a button hook to avoid having to encroach into the turn lane on the road that I am turning into, but sometimes you still need your space and if thats the case, if they were there first then they have the right of way and it's no problem waiting for them to get going. Like others said, take your time and don't loose your cool

It is a process really, you swing wide, if they don't back up you wait.

Initially you may be met by anger, harsh looks, even yelling, but just sit, wait, don't let it get to you, eventually they will back up or move.

If they want to scream and yell, don't reciprocate, some idiot you will never see again just is not worth your time, frustration or raised blood pressure.

Very important advice. Over a period of years of abuse from all sides your health will suffer. I would guess over 1/2 the drivers w/ 20 yrs plus are taking medication just to keep their CDL. Good post Mr. B.

I would have parked in front of said douche bag and stared. Have done it many times and they always move.

i sat thru 8 the other day in Tulsa until I finally had room to swing and the moron to my left napping so I could swing it out left to get the turn around the light pole that always seems to be right out on the edge of the corner.

Even worse, rush hour, pouring rain, and a 4 car pileup in the intersection ahead that I had to turn towards so everyone on the road I was turning into was trying to get to one lane as well. A perfect storm of situations that came together at just the wrong place and time and I was tagged as it lol.

As said already several times NEVER let some idiot or idiots force your hand into a bad situation. I did once, at 6 months in, and let's just say it didn't work out so well for my trailer. After that I've never let it happen again. Nor will I. In these situations, patience is your friend and your only option. Sit there if you have to and wait till you can get the turn. The 4 wheelers behind you can wait.

Having said that, if the idiot to my right has pulled out a car length past the stop line and I can't get the turn, if there's no traffic behind him, I might just swing wide and go nose to nose with him and sit there till he moves. They always do.

Patience. You can never have enough of it in this job.

That's the most important thing to remember. Never ever back up.

I actually enjoy when this happens. I take advantage of it and log my mandatory 30 minute break.:biggrin_25522:

If they won't give you room just pull up there, set your brakes, and relax. If you can't go then no one will go. Never ever let a 4wheeler dictate how you drive YOUR truck

Never back up at an intersection.....if there was a motorcycle sitting a foot behind, you would never know it.
