    Radar,
I did drive for Roehl for about 4 months after I retired. I also got the money from my GIbill. It worked out good for me the little over $900 that the VA sends you is tax free. With Roehl, I didn’t have to do anything. They did it all. All I did was watch the VA money hit the bank. I stopped driving back in September when that local job fell in my lap. I am making about 50% more money and home every night.

Roehl was a great company to work for. I have no complaints and would recommend them to any new driver. The one thing is that if you are on the honor program (VA) you do not get mileage pay, you get a salary. I was fine with that because I had a set paycheck while learning the business. I was in the nation van fleet. I would stay out 11 days and then home for 3. That is three days too, not 36 hours from when you get home. I usually came home Friday some time and would head out Tuesday morning. They do pay a little higher salary for those Honor drivers in the flatbed fleet, but it didn’t seem like it was worth the money to me. Flatbeders have my respect. They bust their ###.

    Well, hope this helps.
