In most states as long as one party is aware of then communication it's good. Here is a big but, the company probably has a policy about this that makes the recording worthless.

I hardly did a truck stop at all, we hade so many service centers I could get to one of them. I was never unsafe when I got to where I needed to me I took a full 10 instead of counting the safe haven move as part of my 10 which we could do.

I probably would have thrown out the universal "do the best I/you can" catchphrase and left it at that. Everybody knows what that loosely translates to...if it's late it's late and I'm not loosing any sleep over it.
