Carriers do it all the time. Usually find out that they have signed the BOL's and got paid from their factoring company. They deal with that later. Usually are working with the storage company. Then there is the broker who uses them even after they screwed him.
I'VE BOOKED 4 LOADS WITH THIS CARRIER OVER THE PAST MONTH AND EACH ONE I'VE HAD A PROBLEM ON. THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO MAKE A PICK UP AROUND 5PM YESTERDAY, I WAS TOLD THEY'LL BE THERE AT 1721 WITHOUT AN ISSUE BUT THEY NEVER PICKED UP THE LOAD OR EVEN BOTHERED TO CALL ME. THE LOAD BEFORE THAT THEY PICKED UP LATE AND DELIVERED A DAY LATE BECAUSE THE DRIVER WAS "GOING THROUGH A DOT CHECKPOINT" (THEY USED THIS EXCUSE SEVERAL TIMES ON OTHER LOADS)... BE VERY CAREFUL USING THIS COMPANY

So the scam is they grind along for 2 years to establish some history, then over the course of a month or two add a bunch of drivers, book a bunch of loads they don't deliver, falsify PODs to get paid from factors, & hold freight hostage to get paid a second time from brokers, and then what... ride off into the sunset?

Clearly the fraud will be uncovered before long -- what is their end game?

Well, they have an active UCC filing with a factoring company.

Eventually some brokers will pay whatever they want, more so when their customer threatens to hold all the money they owe them until it's straightened out. Not to discriminate, but it's a common practice with some(not all)of the Chicago Volvo crowd. Not everyone will report these actions, so they get away with it.

Because it is not criminal, it's a civil matter. They didn't steal anything.

That company located right next to me :). Why broker can't make a claim on carrier's insurance?
