What to do with the Coax cable?

    First post here in the CB forum.

    I've got a Galaxy DX949 peaked and tuned, echo board, aftermarket 18' coax, and a single Monkey Made antenna. It runs barefoot, excepting the peaking and tuning.

    Since I have this installed in a company truck, I couldn't make the install as optimum as I would have liked, or as clean (hidden), so I have the coax running inside and up into the overhead on the Freightliner Century overhead.

    Is there a particular preference for storing all the excess length in a way that won't block or weaken signals. Is coiled neatly and bound okay?

    I would think as long as your SWR's stay within limits and your coax isn't pinched, you should be okay.

    loosely bundle the coax up in the overhead. Do not coil it. That can adversely affect your impedance and will affect your receive and possibly your SWR. old saying in the radio hobby: Neat is not always the best. Ugly is always the best.

    yup truckerllew is right, Coiling the antenna, can hurt your SWR, it can cause ... well just that a higher standing wave in the coax, its better to not have it coiled, i dont know how much room you have up their but if you can just toss it up their, make sure their are no sharp turns, and its not all thrown ontop/coiled together
