I've been thinking about getting into trucking for a while. Reading as much as I can on which company to go with, studying and passing my permit tests. I applied to prime and got the all clear. It's just that this cpap thing has got me worried. I'm 51 about 210 lbs and 5'8". I'd hate to come all the way there and then be sent home or told I have to buy a machine that would make it financially impossible to pay the bills I would have. I'm really not sure what to do......
What to do?

do you have a family doctor you can talk to?
-
I really don't, I have not had a reason to even go to the doctor except for a lower back injury recently
-
if your concerned about sleep apnea,it maybe a good start.or just wait and see what happens at Prime.
-
Get your back injury cleared up , trucking is hard on your back.
-
Oh it is cleared up, it only lasted a week or so. I am good to go.
-
at 5'8" and 210 your BMI is UNDER the threshold for testing
-
I sure hope so, maybe Ill just give it a shot.
-
Welp..I decided to give it a shot, so I quit my job and headed to MO on the dog (which I hope I'll never have to do again). You were right mdmedicgod, no cpap for me and I'm headed out with my instructor this morning!!
ironpony Thanks this. -
I left my job at the end of '11 to come to Prime. My only regret was that I didn't do it sooner, it's not for everybody but there are opportunities in trucking. Good luck to you and congratulations on making it to the psd phase.
