    I've been out of car hauling since 2001. At that time there was no sliders on anything accept the very old 55 ft antiques. The 75ft rigs had fixed fifth wheels.

    Would of been best to sort this out before you got to any POE. Although i got away with being more than 1000 lb on two occasions. Not sure how strict they are in OK, would not try it if you were going through OR. By sliding the trailer forward one hole should transfer some weight back onto the drive axles. It can average between 250 - 450 lb per hole. Assuming you can slide the axles. Sliding your fifth wheel back may shift some weight off the steers.
